Has There Been Any Research On Food Allergies And A Possible Correlation With Gout?

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Eliot, ME

My food allergies are poultry, fish, shellfish, beer, which are all foods high in purines. I’ve been allergic to poultry since birth but the other allergies didn’t start until my 30s and after I was suffering from gout attacks. Once I stopped eating fish/beer the gout attacks stopped. Doctors and my own research have told me that gout is caused by the body’s inability to process purines and uric acid. So I was wondering if there could be a correlation here?

Where Do I Start?

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have recently been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis and my inflammation levels are not coming down. I am waiting to see a Rheumatologist but my one doctor thinks I might have Fibromyalgia as well. A lot of people have told me that I need to try and figure out if something I am eating is causing the inflammation. How do I do the elimination diet? Where do I start?

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member

I agree with a food diary, also noting how you feel after eating whatever it was you ate. Just note that you may have delayed reactions, such as a few hours until the next day. For example, I am… read more

What Medical Diagnosis Catagory Do I Fall Into?

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Dallas, TX

I have been sick for early 12 years. I have so many food intolerances including gluten, sugar alcohols, and even intolerances to facial creams, sunscreens, and just about every topical lotions that absorb into my skin. Recently I purchased a L’Oreal product that was gluten-free and fragrance free but I still broke out in hives and a burning rash. My primary care placed me on prednisone. What in the world is going on with my body? The 25+ doctors over the years have no idea. I’m beyond… read more

Wheat Allergy - False Positive Chances?

A MyFoodAllergyTeam Member asked a question 💭
London, England (United Kingdom

Saw a comment on a group saying something like "after a (severe) allergic reaction ige levels go up a lot and this takes 3 months to clear. If tests are done within 3 months of a reaction specific ige tests and/or skin prick test have a higher chance of false positives"
Is the above true? I can’t find anything supporting this on the internet
