Overview
Sudafed is a medication used to treat sinus pressure and congestion. Sudafed is available over the counter in most states, but only by prescription in certain states. Sudafed is also known by its drug name, Pseudoephedrine.
Sudafed is a decongestant. Sudafed is believed to work by causing the blood vessels to constrict, reducing swelling in the sinus passages.
How do I take it?
Take Sudafed as directed by your doctor, or follow the directions on the package.
Sudafed comes in tablet and oral solution forms.
Side effects
The FDA-approved label for Sudafed includes a warning that people who have diabetes, high blood pressure, heart or thyroid disease, or prostate problems, as well as those who experience nervousness, insomnia, or dizziness while taking the medication, should consult a physician regarding its use.
