How Do Households Handle It When One Child Is Allergic And One Is Not. Do You Find Birth Order And Onset Of Alleriges Make A Difference.
I am writing a book on raising children with deadly food allergies and I would like to know how other families handle sibling dynamics.
I gear everything to the person with the allergies because they are the ones who need to stay safe.
my 5 year old brother and my 2 year old son both have allergies. my brother is allergic to lemon, while my son is allergic to a whole array of items. if the 2 year old wants lemonade, we just tell my brother he is allergic, but he can have koolaid, but with some of my sons allergies being more sever, the minor things we tell him he is allergic too, but his major allergies we tell my brother he has to wait until nap or bedtime to eat them, and then after that he has to wash his face and hands and brush his teeth, and clean the table, and chair very well.
I'm the oldest sibling and also the sickest. I have the most health issues out of all 3 of us. When I cook or bake something, I usually just make a dish that I can eat and everyone else will eat the same thing. Sometimes I'll make something that I can't have like regular banana bread then I just won't eat it.
My oldest child has food and med allergies. I cook most of things myself, even gateau. We do not eat out. And if we go somewhere i always pack the same food for everyone without allergens. Its not allowed to bring in the house any of the allergen containing food. So we all know that for sure that this is the place were we can all relax and do not worry about any allergen exposure.
I'm the youngest (3 older sisters) and the sickest I try to make something for me to take
