Where Do You Find Good Recipes?
I've tried looking on Pinterest and google but it's hard to find anything that doesn't contain the allergy food. Am I overlooking something?
Substitution cheat sheets! I’m new to allergen free cooking but if I find a recipe that nearly works but say has egg in it, i’d search online for “egg substitute options” but look at “image” search results instead of the list results. There are charts people have made up which show which substitutes work best for which kind of recipe. I’m sure Pinterest would have similar things.
I also change the recipes to suit me. It’s trial and error but eventually it will pay off.
I change the recipe to suit me. It is almost impossible for me to find a recipe without allergins so i change it.
I look for a recipe on-line for the food I want and then make substitutions. Some foods are impossible, but many aren't. I try to find recipes with as few ingredients as possible.
My biggest challenge is I react to a lot of oils, since many of them contain my food allergens. If a recipe calls for oil, then it only works if I can use my Avocado Oil or Butter as a substitution.
