"Life is too short. I can't control everything in my life. Trying to is exhausting!!" - member of MyFoodAllergyTeam
When first faced with a food allergy, a common fear is a lack of control over our health. How could our bodies betray us? How do we grab the reins back and fix the situation? Living with food allergies forces us to recognize what we can and cannot control.
Members on MyFoodAllergyTeam have various strategies for letting go of control and fear, including:
1) using guided imagery to visualize letting go
2) opening up and trusting others
3) organizing or cleaning the house
4) reaching out for support from other members on MyFoodAllergyTeam
Here are recent conversations from members on MyFoodAllergyTeam:
"Feeling so limited in what I can feed my child. Choosing to let go of mistakes and embrace the transition."
"Now that my oldest son has started nursery school and I'm not around him all the time, I need to learn how to let go and trust he will be safe."
"My son had an anaphylactic reaction at school on Friday. He is safe and healthy now. But I am trying to let go of the anxiety, not feel such intense grief and return to a sense of normalcy and well being."
